While hiking the trails along the Tugaloo Corridor it is easy to feel the history and imagine Estatoe, the Native American village located there during the 18th century.
Over 70 canoes and kayaks went down the Tugaloo River while learning about the history of the Tugaloo Corridor. This photo is one of the prettiest parts of the trip!
400+ participated in the 11th Annual Lainie Weade Memorial Tour de Tugaloo benefit bicycle ride along the Historic Tugaloo River Corridor, Lake Hartwell and the foothills of Western South Carolina. Proceeds from the race benefit the Stephens County Foundation for preservation of the Tugaloo River corridor. These two were on the Century 100 mile leg!
Every Memorial Day we kayak down the Tugaloo River, which flows into Lake Hartwell! The trip is free, includes a history tour of the area, and is just lots of fun. Along the way, we also paddle to the South Carolina side of the lake where we have a picnic lunch at Longnose Falls.
